i want the world in my hands

Roll of film from back in April. I meant to post it as a sort of "week in the life" kind of feature, but it was lost in the tragedy of the Boston Marathon Bombing. But here it is, in all its green tinged glory.
I'm excited to announce that Lucy of Lucy's Blog has recently awarded me with the Versatile Blogger Award! eek I'm so excited, thanks Lucy! The award dictates that I reveal seven facts about myself, so here goes;
- In elementary school, almost all of my belongings would, invariably, end up in the lost and found. This led to a tradition where my mother would collect all of my missing sandwich containers, sweatshirts and lunch boxes when visiting the school-and when I came home, she'd have them all lined up on kitchen table, proving that they weren't "lost forever" after all!
- My favorite vegetable in the entire world is cucumbers. I could eat them with every meal.
- I am able to write backwards with ease, and do so when I'm bored.
- My greatest sources of procrastination are the two N's; Netflix and Nutella.
- Whenever I take the T, (Boston public transportation) I'm constantly approached by the most interesting characters, because, according to my friends, "I have an approachable face." I'm not sure what that means, but I've met a bunch of really diverse and crazy people this way.
- Once I have a camera in hand, I become a bold dare devil who will do anything for a picture.
- I have a habit of having conversations with people when I'm half asleep. This wasn't discovered until college, when my roommate would leave for her morning classes. I'd sit straight up in bed, ask her breathlessly, "what day is it?" and then promptly go back to sleep once answered. Also, one time her phone alarm went off and I answered my hand, thinking it was my phone. Oops.
thanks again Lucy!
On a more serious note however, please keep everyone in Oklahoma in your prayers. A blogger I follow, Lauren of Introvert's Introduction (she guest posted here one time), lived in Moore for a time and has created a beautiful, beautiful print whose proceeds are being donated to the residents of Moore. Please check it out here.

and oh, poor atlas
I recently went on a mini road trip to New Bedford with my mom, where we checked out one of our favorite haunts; a restoration warehouse chock full of all sorts of interesting things, ranging from rooms full of windows to an entire train ticket booth. Returning here brought back memories of childhood, of running around with my siblings, hopping from bathtub to bathtub as my parents dug in elbow deep, looking for the perfect doorknob. It was so exciting to go back with my camera and capture such an interesting place!
what summer (spring) adventures have you embarked on recently?

young and beautiful
Shots from an impromptu photo shoot in the Fens, a park near my school. Perfect golden light and some gorgeous girls-what more could you need? I'm so lucky to have them as friends. When I look at those photographs, I am filled with the utmost affection for these ladies, thinking back on all of our good memories.
I finished my first year of college today guys! Expect a nostalgic post full of photographs soon.
thanks to Anna Morkwitz, Alexandra, and Etienne Stoller for following xx

we're not kids anymore

So much has changed in the last year-especially me. In a good way, of course.
I apologize for not blogging in a while, but I'll try to start putting up pictures from the last few weeks, which has been a strange juxtaposition of sundrenched walks and sunless hours in the dorm making art. hope everyone is enjoying the weather xx

in the wake of this week's crazy events, I've decided to do my part and help the victims of this tragic event. Currently, all profits from photographs on my shop will go to One Fund Boston, which is aiding Marathon victims. There are currently about seven prints on my shop, limited edition pictures of Boston. If you are interested in purchasing other photographs in other sizes, please contact me directly at athousandmillionwords@gmail.com
Thank you all for your kind words on the last post. To any Boston readers-stay safe today, don't leave your homes. We are Boston Strong-nothing can deter us xx

we are strong.
Boston is my home.
I never want to hear sirens rip through the city the way I did, echoing loudly and reverberating on buildings. I don't want to think about all the people I handed water out to earlier as they ran in the marathon, realizing they could be dead. I don't want to have to message all of my friends frantically, wondering if they had decided to go to the finish line after all, and I don't want to have to enter a quiet lounge with the news blaring about missing limbs and terrorism. Ever. Again.
No one should ever have this happen to their city.
(please keep all the marathon runners, spectators, first responders, family, and city residents in your prayers tonight)

we are all too young to die

A couple of pictures from last Friday. My friend A was home for Phoenix, and we went out for Thai food. Somehow, we ended up driving around taking pictures and chatting. It was so good seeing her.
On another note, I just downloaded a free demo for Nik software, and I'm totally in love! Anyone who knows their way around photoshop should check it out. I apologize for the difference in tones, colors, etc, in these pictures-I couldn't help but try all the filters.
hope everyone has a wonderful week xx
